Fashion Advice

"Dear Beth,
http://dalenavintage.blogspot.com/2012/01/in-shop.html
Later this week, I'm going to a birthday party for my best friend's friend. She says to wear cocktail dresses, but ones you can move around in. How can I add some "oomph" to this dress?

-Vintage Cockatoo"

Dear Vintage Cockatoo,
This vintage, 50s dress is super cute, and I can imagine your style just by looking at it! I like the bows on the side. You can glitz it a little by adding dangle earrings and a small necklace; make sure they match! You're going to have a lot of fun at the party as long as you wear this dress!

My 1st Adivce Question!

"Dear Beth,
I have an fun girls' night next week. My best friends are coming with me to the movies. We're planning on seeing the Hunger Games on it's midnight premiere. My favorite character is Cinna, I can just imagine how great his dresses are! I sent a picture of my outfit for the premiere. Can you tell me how to make it just as great as Cinna's?                                                                                                                 -Cinna Lover"
(Outfit sent in)

Dear Cinna Lover,
I hope you have fun at the movie premiere! I love the dress you chose! I don't  think anyone can make anything better than Cinna, but we can sure try!
Buy a sash and cloth glitter glue. Design a fire pattern on your sash. Wear a long necklace with red, yellow, and orange-ish colors. See if you can layer it with thin black necklaces. Wear tights with a fire-colored pattern. You'll look like coal burning in a fire, like Katniss!

Breaking Trend: Full Skirts

Celebs like Ashley Benson, Elizabeth Olsen, and even Taylor Swift are rocking our world around with full skirts. Well, the bigger the skirt, the better the style now-a-days. No more minis, I'm loving the fulls.

Seriously, compare the difference:

MINIS

FULLS

Which kind of skirt do YOU like better?

Preview of the New Fashion Advice Series

I know you guys are as psyched as me about the new fashion advice series, so I created this preview with a letter I have and love. Here it is!

"Dear Beth,
My school is having a small dance with a music theme. There’s supposed to be music everywhere, and everyone is supposed to wear something music related.
My best friend is wearing music note jewelry. My other friend is wearing a music staff belt and shoes.
How can I incorporate music into my outfit? (I’m wearing a white, puffy cocktail dress and black high-heels.)
-Worried and Dressy "

Dear Worried and Dressy,
I love this topic! I love putting music or technology into fashion. It makes it fun!
Let's start on your point that music is supposed to be "everywhere". Why can't you include yourself in the "everywhere"? You CAN!
If your dress has a sash as thick as an IPod touch, MP3 Player, or a phone with music, awesome. If it doesn't, you'll need one for this idea.
Hide your IPod etc. in the sash when you go to the dance. Turn on your favorite music. Make sure it's easily accessible in case you need to turn it off.
Now wherever you go, your favorite music goes with you.  You'll stun your friends and wow your enemies.
Style is key, turn the key, open a new door, and take a first step.

The Amazing and Beautiful World of YOU

Have you ever  seen a lesson about you? Well, today's your lucky day! We're going to talk about you.

Have you ever woken up in the morning thinking you are always ugly and can't even go out in public? And then you put on long sleeves and pants, lots of makeup, and boots? Well, then you look like clown. Don't ever think of yourself as ugly, because, guess what? You're not ugly...at all!

Everyone is beautiful in their skin, and you have no reason to leave yourself out. Don't give yourself P.M.P.

P.M.P is Pack Mule Problems. P.M.P is when you layer yourself with too many clothes and too much makeup to try and get rid of your personality and skin.

STOP if you find yourself getting P.M.P. Think about it. Don't try to be the girl everyone loves, the geek who built the school's sign, the nerd getting A+'s all the time, or anyone else. Be yourself, everybody struggles to show themselves, so I'm here giving you advice.

Everyone has a gift, embrace yours. Show yours off. Because, sooner or later, you gift is what will make you more amazing than now, it'll be the thing guiding you straight to your dream.

Be yourself, and that's all I can say. You are beautiful!

Breaking Trend: HUNGER GAMES NAIL POLISH!

I love the HUNGER GAMES as you all know! But I also totally love....nails! I mean, who doesn't?

Well, there are these new nail polish colors! Guess what? They're Hunger Games inspired colors.

They're called Colours from the Capitol from China Glaze!

I love them because they totally tell the story of the Hunger Games and scream, "Katness!"

My favorite is Riveting! What's yours?
